Fame is a difficult thing to define, so I’ve decided that for now, “famous” means someone who has an entry about them in Wikipedia or other significant references on the web. As much as I can, I’ll also include other notable Dumbrills if I can find information online.
There appears to be something suspicious going on here since the two most famous Dumbrills both have the same name: Richard. I can confirm that they are different people since I’ve met both of them. One is Richard Dumbrill, a well known professor of ancient music and the other is Richard Dumbrill, the South African cricketer, who also happens to be my Dad.
